Mi Lobi South – Action research op Zuid

For Hogeschool Inholland, within the Mi Lobi South project, we investigated what motivates residents to participate or not in community art at the old ABN AMRO building.

Artist Naomi King painted the building over a five-week period, inviting anyone who wanted to participate. Being A Designer conducted research in various ways:

• Actively painting and engaging in conversation with participants.
• Speaking with bystanders and passersby.
• Surveying residents further down the street, in collaboration with the Research House.

The collected insights were processed in an analysis session, where ten principles were formulated for further area development and placemaking. These principles were then shared with the residents during the Christmas market, asking if they recognized themselves in the proposed ideas.

Gaining insights into residents' motivations to participate or not in community art and how these insights can contribute to broader neighborhood development.
