HHS – System mapping session

Mapping the natural gas system hands-on for a greener future

About this project

During De Haagse Maakt Impact! at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Being A Designer hosted a ‘system mapping’ session. Experts, scientists, and users working on a gas-free Netherlands mapped out the current natural gas structures and began shaping the systems of the future.

As part of circularity, we developed a system-mapping game using old bottle caps. The caps, representing system components, can be moved around the playing field, connected, or detached. This allowed us to engage in extensive shifting, polishing, and discussing to visualize how the relationships look now and in the future!

Goal

Mapping the current natural gas systems together to shape the systems of the future.

Results

  • An active and visual discussion around the topic of natural gas.
  • Mapping of the current natural gas structures.
  • An exploration of possible future green systems.
